Spheres
In Dreamlands and Horror States, I am interested in depicting states of mind through “creating” living structures. The Dreamlands and Horror States are spheres made of human flesh with senses and functioning within themselves. The human flesh is fragmented, abstracted, fused together into a ball, a cluster of cells; thinking and feeling tissue that multiplies, thrives, survives, attacks itself and deteriorates all in one.
Dreamlands reflect utopian states, ideal worlds, and beautifully-functioning structures in perfect harmony. At the same time, there are hints towards an under-layer of stagnancy and lack of development. I am interested in exploring the thin line between harmony and horror, how one is a hair away from the other. The States of Horror explore dystopian states, uneasy structures of dysfunctional relationships to others, and mostly to oneself. I am interested in shifts of form, in form misplaced or depicted as functioning in an unexpected way.
